NEW YOUTH USA BAT STANDARD

Beginning January 1, 2018 there will be a new USA Baseball Bat Standard

How can I tell if my bat is approved for league play?

Beginning January 1, 2018, all bats for players under 14 must be marked with a new USA Baseball stamp (see image below). The bats currently on the market, which are marked with a 1.15BPF stamp, will no longer be legal for play in these leagues. Please note that this rule applies to PONY Baseball, travel ball leagues have separate rules, so a bat that is acceptable there may not be legal for PONY.

What does this mean for Fall Ball 2017?

Since the fall season of WGGYB ends in November, the new regulations do not affect children who already have an approved bat, which are marked with a 1.15BPF stamp. This will however affect children who are purchasing a bat for the first time or who are replacing their current bat, as the rules will be in effect for the spring season in 2018.

What does this mean for Spring Ball 2018?

Your player will need a bat marked with a new USA Baseball stamp.
